S1E1 – De Brocas PILOT

November 17, 2021 By Jen

Episode 1: 12 March, 1296 -2 Feb 1297

S1E1 Script

After discovering that the English have laid siege to Bordeaux, William is convinced the Gascon War will soon be over and they will have their family lands returned.

William receives word that Edward I has called up an army to go to Scotland, where there is a rebellion. He must break this news to Arnald,  one of the Knights being summoned.

Garcie-Arnaud de Navailles makes his first annoying appearance, much to Margaret’s disgust.

William receives complaints against Garcie-Arnaud, and launches an investigation.

Under the leadership of King Edward, Arnald participates in the sack of Berwick. It is so horrifically violent that he has to force himself to follow orders.

Following Berwick, Arnald is ordered to bring prisoners to the Tower of London before going home to Gascony where he is to retrieve warhorses for Edward. Home in Saint-Sever, PTSD from the Berwick massacre causes his first nightmares.

The researchers also found that soldiers who inflicted harm on civilians or prisoners of war were much more likely to develop PTSD.

Margaret struggles to maintain the family herd of warhorses without Arnald, and faces a new threat from the Lord of Navailles.
